Rural Oriented Youth Movement-Nepal (ROYM Nepal) is a national-level non-governmental organization established in 2009. It works towards poverty reduction, skill development, women’s empowerment, sustainable agriculture, and climate change adaptation. ROYM Nepal implements community-based programs in WASH, livelihood improvement, self-employment, women’s health, and agri-business promotion across Nepal.
Position Overview
The Junior Technical Assistant (JTA) will support agricultural and livestock development activities, focusing on sustainable farming, livestock health, irrigation systems, pest management, and market linkages. This role requires close coordination with project teams, local stakeholders, and farmers to achieve program goals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical training to farmers’ groups to improve agricultural productivity and livestock health.
- Support and motivate farmers to adopt modern farming techniques for better yields.
- Coordinate with agri-business entrepreneurs to strengthen local market linkages.
- Guide farmers on crop selection, seed treatment, pest control, disease prevention, and fertilizer application.
- Monitor livestock farms and agricultural plots to ensure best practices are followed.
- Support Social Mobilizers in conducting community agricultural training.
- Assist in the installation and operation of irrigation systems, including hydro-powered pumps.
- Document and share successful farming practices within the community.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
- Minimum Technical SLC in JTA (Animal Science / Agriculture).
- At least 2 years of experience in agricultural and livelihood development in Nepal.
- Strong knowledge of fertilizer application, pest management, and livestock disease control.
- Experience in production planning, farm management, and farmer training.
- Good communication skills and ability to motivate smallholder farmers.
- Knowledge of agri-business and market systems is preferred.
