๐ Vacancy Overview
ANSAB is urgently hiring a qualified and dynamic Forest Officer to support a project operating across ten Himalayan districts of Nepal. This role focuses on implementing field-level activities and facilitating coordination with key stakeholders and community institutions.
๐ Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with district-level stakeholders such as Division Forest Offices, FECOFUN, national parks, NTFPs traders, and harvesters.
- Organize and facilitate surveys, assessments, workshops, trainings, and exposure visits.
- Support experts in conducting resource inventories of selected NTFPs.
- Collect and analyze district-level trade data for prioritized NTFPs.
- Build capacity of Social Mobilizers and Local Resource Persons (LRPs).
- Assess CFUGs (Community Forest User Groups) against FairWild Certification standards.
- Train CFUGs on sustainable forest management, governance, and high-altitude herb identification.
- Assist entrepreneurs with enterprise development, marketing, certification, and business documentation.
๐ Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum Bachelorโs degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Botany, or related fields.
- At least 1 year of experience working in Himalayan districts of Nepal.
- Strong understanding of community forestry, NTFPs, and certification standards (e.g., FairWild).
- Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel; knowledge of GIS mapping is a plus.
- Motorbike driving license is mandatory.
