With over a decade of experience, ROYM Nepal has implemented impactful community-based projects in disaster risk reduction, skill promotion, women’s health, and socio-economic empowerment.
Position Overview
We are seeking two highly motivated DRR & Social Mobilization Officers for the project “Fostering Inclusive Resilience through Gender Responsive Disaster Preparedness and Response in Nepal”.
The role focuses on integrating GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion) into disaster preparedness and response at the municipal and provincial levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize & facilitate consultation meetings with Provincial/Municipal Disaster Management Committees and women-led organizations.
- Review and update DRR policies, plans, and guidelines with a GEDSI perspective.
- Provide technical support for integrating GEDSI into EPRP, DPRP, and BCP.
- Coordinate urban simulation exercises and provincial tabletop drills.
- Facilitate humanitarian cluster meetings for effective disaster planning.
- Conduct training on gender-inclusive data collection & analysis for local governments.
- Develop GEDSI data profiles with stakeholder engagement.
- Implement community-level pilots like inclusive early warning systems and community kitchens.
- Map marginalized and women-led groups for targeted programming.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Disaster Risk Management, Development Studies, Gender Studies, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in DRR, community mobilization, or GEDSI programming.
- Proven collaboration with local governments and communities.
- Knowledge of Sphere Standards, DRR frameworks, and humanitarian coordination.
- Strong facilitation, coordination, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
Core Competencies
- Deep understanding of gender equality, disability inclusion, and social justice principles.
- Skills in data management, participatory planning, and report writing.
- Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including marginalized communities.
- Fluency in Nepali & English; local language skills are an asset.
