🎯 Role Overview

United World Schools (UWS) Nepal is seeking a dynamic Head of Programmes to lead the delivery of our education and school construction programs across Nepal. This leadership role will drive quality education, child-friendly environments, and inclusive learning across rural schools while maintaining compliance, accountability, and program innovation.


📌 Key Responsibilities

✅ Strategic Leadership & Program Design

  • Lead long-term education strategy and program direction in Nepal.
  • Identify opportunities for new programs based on research and local context.
  • Collaborate with UWS global teams to design donor-attractive, scalable proposals.
  • Ensure staffing and team structures support program delivery effectively.

✅ Programme & Project Management

  • Supervise and coordinate education projects across multiple rural schools.
  • Oversee construction of new school buildings following safety and environmental standards.
  • Ensure quality, inclusivity, and learning outcomes through effective interventions.
  • Monitor project performance and use data for decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with donor budgets and guidelines.
  • Lead national implementation of UWS’s Child Protection Policy.

✅ Government Engagement & Representation

  • Maintain key relationships with MoEST, CEHRD, SWC, and other education bodies.
  • Support national education planning and policy advocacy.
  • Represent UWS in donor meetings, sector networks, and national events.

✅ Candidate Profile

📚 Education & Experience (Essential)

  • Master’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years’ experience managing education programs, including in remote/rural settings.
  • Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams in complex project environments.
  • Strong understanding of Nepal’s education policy and implementation structures.
  • Budgeting, financial management, M&E, and risk management proficiency.
  • Demonstrated advocacy, strategic thinking, and donor relationship skills.
  • Excellent English and Nepali (spoken and written).

Desirable Assets

  • Background in Primary Education or inclusive education practices.
  • INGO or donor-funded project experience.
  • Strong data analysis and program improvement capabilities.
  • Track record of influencing policy and conducting high-level advocacy.
