🏦 About the Role – Associate Investment Officer

The Associate Investment Officer will join the Financial Institutions Group (FIG), which manages around 40% of IFC’s business. The role focuses on banking, digital finance, risk management, and capital markets, with a special emphasis on Upstream and Advisory Services in Nepal and South Asia.

The selected candidate will:

  • Design and implement investment projects across South Asia, focusing on Nepal.
  • Work with IFC/WBG teams and regulators to create new markets.
  • Develop feasibility studies, project proposals, and financial models.
  • Manage high-value upstream advisory projects from design to completion.
  • Support policy reforms, digital transformation, and risk management.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Upstream initiatives to create new investment opportunities in Nepal.
  • Conduct sector-specific financial analysis, stress testing, and feasibility studies.
  • Work with regulators and stakeholders to implement sector reforms.
  • Draft and review concept notes, implementation plans, and budgets.
  • Manage knowledge sharing, research, and best practices within FIG.
  • Prepare project supervision and completion reports.
  • Use tools like MS Excel, PowerPoint, and project management software.

🎓 Selection Criteria

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field. (MBA, CPA, CFA preferred)
  • 8+ years of financial sector experience in emerging markets (consulting, investment banking, risk management, credit underwriting, or digital finance).
  • Strong expertise in credit risk models, financial analysis, and investment structuring.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English and Nepali (mandatory).
  • Ability to build networks with banks, investors, and regulators.
  • Strong teamwork, innovation, and project management skills.
