The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations is hiring a National Security Specialist for its Nepal office. This role provides an exciting international career opportunity for professionals experienced in security risk assessment, incident management, and emergency preparedness.
FAO Nepal works to improve food security, sustainable agriculture, and rural development. The position contributes to the safety and security of FAO staff, assets, and operations across the country.
Key Responsibilities
Security Management & Coordination
- Act as the primary contact for all personnel regarding security issues.
- Monitor implementation of FAO security policies and UNSMS standards.
- Coordinate with government, military, police, NGOs, and non-state actors.
- Participate in security coordination forums and Security Cell meetings.
- Maintain emergency communication systems (SAT Phone, VHF radio).
Security Information & Risk Analysis
- Collect and analyze security information.
- Assess security risks at duty stations and staff residences.
- Ensure compliance with MOSS and MORSS standards.
Security Planning & Implementation
- Prepare and update Security Plans, including field offices and staff lists.
- Support implementation of security measures and warden systems.
Incident Management & Reporting
- Report and document security incidents.
- Prepare Incident Reports, Security Assessments, and Quarterly Reports.
Training & Awareness
- Conduct security awareness and preparedness training.
- Provide briefings and orientation for new staff members.
Administrative Support
- Maintain confidential security records and databases.
- Administer office ID and pass systems.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Management, Security, Sociology, Arts, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in security, preferably in military, police, emergency services, or operations.
- Languages: Working knowledge of English and Nepali (Level C).
- Nationality: Nepalese.
