Job Overview
The Senior Project Manager plays a crucial leadership role in managing all aspects of technical, financial, and programme delivery for British Council Nepal’s education projects. This position works closely with the Head of English and School Education to ensure that all project operations meet international quality, donor, and compliance standards.
You will oversee planning, budgeting, and reporting while ensuring successful project implementation and accountability to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead overall planning, scheduling, and coordination of project activities.
- Ensure full compliance with British Council and client policies and standards.
- Oversee project reporting, risk management, and governance.
- Manage project documentation and internal systems effectively.
- Provide strategic and operational support for research and implementation.
- Maintain a culture of professionalism and quality across the project team.
Contract Management
- Manage client and consultant contracts ensuring compliance with procurement and reporting guidelines.
- Identify and negotiate with consultants; draft and issue contracts.
- Ensure safeguarding, gender equality, and environmental compliance.
- Maintain high-quality relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Financial Planning and Reporting
- Support financial setup and implementation with the British Council’s Finance Manager.
- Track and monitor budgets, forecasts, and expenditures.
- Ensure all financial operations meet audit, value-for-money, and compliance standards.
- Prepare financial reports, invoices, and payment documentation accurately.
Brand and Market Positioning
- Manage project communications, design materials, and impact stories.
- Ensure brand alignment with British Council and donor standards.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the project in key meetings and partnership activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong leadership and project management experience in international organizations or NGOs.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, contracts, and donor compliance.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of British Council systems and project frameworks (preferred).
