NEPSE Enables Market Depth Visibility for Odd Lot Orders from Shrawan 1

In response to increasing demand from general investors, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has introduced a new feature on its website, effective from 1st Shrawan 2082, enabling users to view buy and sell orders for odd lot transactions in the market depth section. This update addresses long-standing complaints from investors who faced difficulties buying or selling shares in odd lot quantities.

NEPSE expects this move to significantly ease the challenges investors encounter when trading odd lot shares and to help resolve related grievances.

As per the Securities Trading Regulations, 2075, there are specific guidelines regarding odd lot transactions. For securities with a face value of Rs. 10, a board lot comprises 100 units, while for securities with a face value of Rs. 100, a board lot consists of 10 units. Any transaction involving fewer shares than a board lot is considered an odd lot trade.

The regulations further clarify that odd lot transactions do not impact price limits or the calculation of market indices. Additionally, if a board lot’s share quantity is reduced due to corporate actions or other adjustments, those shares are not automatically classified as odd lots unless they meet the regulatory conditions.
