About the Position

ANSAB is currently seeking a highly qualified, motivated, and results-oriented individual for the position of Project Coordinator for a potential project that will be implemented in four districts within the Terai Arc Landscape of Nepal. The aim of the project is to enhance the participation of marginalized groups in sustainable forest management and improve their access to benefits through Nepalโ€™s Emission Reduction Program (ERP). The selected candidate will play a key leadership role in coordinating project activities, managing partnerships, and ensuring the successful delivery of project objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of project activities in line with the project document, budget, and timeline.
  • Ensure implementation adheres to the projectโ€™s operational manual, sub-grant guidelines, and compliance frameworks.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with sub-grantees, cluster-level support hubs, and community-based organizations to facilitate smooth execution of field activities.
  • Provide strategic and operational guidance to cluster coordinators, sub-grantees, and community facilitators.
  • Organize and lead biannual and annual coordination meetings with implementing partners and stakeholders.
  • Oversee and ensure effective functioning of the project grievance redress mechanism, ensuring it is accessible to all stakeholders and responsive to community feedback.
  • Coordinate with relevant government bodies including Provincial Forest Ministries and Division Forest Offices to maximize project impact and align with national priorities.
  • Manage technical working groups and the project advisory committee, incorporating feedback and recommendations into project planning and implementation.

Technical Leadership

  • Support the design and development of communication materials and training modules on REDD+, ERP, and the Benefit Sharing Plan (BSP).
  • Coordinate national-level trainings and provide support to local teams on developing inclusive community investment plans aligned with ERP and BSP objectives.
  • Work with cluster coordinators and sub-grantees to implement community-led investments in sustainable forest management, livelihoods, and climate resilience.
  • Facilitate national and provincial dialogues, learning events, and stakeholder forums to foster knowledge exchange on REDD+, ERP, and forest governance.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Compliance

  • Oversee the implementation of the projectโ€™s monitoring and evaluation system in coordination with the MEAL Specialist.
  • Ensure that project targets and indicators are met and that data collection accurately reflects community participation and project outcomes.
  • Prepare comprehensive progress reports on a biannual basis and disseminate to stakeholders and donors.
  • Ensure full compliance with procurement, financial, and fiduciary requirements as outlined in the projectโ€™s operational frameworks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Masterโ€™s degree in forestry, natural resource management, environmental science, or a related field.
  • At least 12 years of relevant professional experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing projects funded by bilateral or multilateral donors.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating complex, multi-stakeholder projects involving government, civil society, Indigenous Peoplesโ€™ Organizations, and local communities.
  • Strong background in sustainable forest management, community forestry, REDD+, climate change adaptation and mitigation, enterprise development, and participatory governance.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Nepali, with proven ability to write reports and facilitate meetings and workshops.
  • Sound knowledge of Nepalโ€™s Emission Reduction Program (ERP) and Benefit Sharing Plan (BSP) is essential.
